Australia Visa Types
The Australian Department of Immigration and Citizenship offers a type of visa that is adjudged suitable for the applicant and the immigration laws of the country.
There are four broad categories of Australian visas: visitor visas, student visas, worker visas, and immigrant visas. Each category is further subdivided with unique application procedures and requirements.
Visitor Visas for Australia
This visa category is granted to foreigners who wish to Australia for holidays or tourism, to visit a relative, to carry out some type of study of fewer than three months in duration, or for any other short stay that does not include a work objective.
At the port of entry, the immigration official will decide if you are eligible to enter into the country or not. The immigration official could restrict the tourist visa to a single entry and for a period of fewer than 90 days.
Australia Electronic Travel Authority
Some tourist visas are granted through the system known as “Electronic Travel Authority” -ETA ( Electronic Travel Authorizations – classified as category 976), which issues an electronic permit to travel to Australia for a period of no more than 3 months, which cannot be extended.
The ETA is granted to passport holders of more than 33 countries in Europe, Asia, and North America through travel agents, licensed airlines, or specialized offices to whom the Australian government provides this service free of charge for being offered to travelers.
Australian holiday visas for temporary work
This visa category is granted to nationals of the following countries Belgium, Canada, Republic of Cyprus, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Malta, Netherlands, Norway, Sweden, Taiwan, and the United Kingdom who want to work in Australia while on vacation.
The primary purpose of the applicant should be vacation and not to work. Although this type of visa is valid for up to 12 months, it only grants the right to work for the same employer for a maximum period of 6 months.
Australian Business Visitor Visa
This visa category is granted to businessmen or executives who travel to Australia for business reasons, such as attending a conference or a training session; conduct business with an Australian company or undertake a business trip.
Australian Visa for Retired Investor
It is a temporary visa that is issued to people who are 55 years and older and who want to make a significant investment in Australia.
This visa does not grant the right to obtain a permanent residence visa. This visa allows you to work in Australia for up to 20 hours a week, travel in and out of Australia countless times during the validity of the visa, live in Australia for 4 years, and take your partner or partner to Australia.
This visa can be renewed as many times as necessary as long as the person demonstrates the necessary requirements.
Australian Medical Treatment Visa
For people who wish to travel to Australia for medical treatment. If the medical consultation or treatment lasts up to 3 months.
This visa is issued to people who are planning any medical treatment or specialized consultation in Australia, except surrogate mothers, people traveling to Australia to donate an organ; people who accompany or provide help to the patient.
Australian student visas
This visa category is issued to people who want to study for more than three months. The student’s spouse and children are also granted visas to stay in Australia.
